Five Toronto police officers and one retired officer have turned themselves in to face more than 20 criminal charges in a corruption investigation into the force's central drug squad.The charges follow an RCMP-led probe into allegations the officers on the now-disbanded drug squad were beating and robbing suspects. The officers face charges ranging from conspiracy to obstruct justice, to extortion, perjury, theft over $5,000, and assault causing bodily harm.

They found 70- pounds of marijuana, last night in a home, in West Valley ... being used as sort of a warehouse. 4 suspects were arrested, for selling to street dealers ... who, in turn ... sold to users. One of the staffers at the centre of an RCMP raid at the offices of two senior cabinet ministers has been fired and the other suspended as links to Paul Martin's new government are unveiled. The focus is on ministerial assistants David Basi and Bob Virk. They were organizers in British Columbia for Martin's leadership bid.
