Five Toronto police officers and one retired officer have turned themselves in to face more than 20 criminal charges in a corruption investigation into the force's central drug squad.The charges follow an RCMP-led probe into allegations the officers on the now-disbanded drug squad were beating and robbing suspects. The officers face charges ranging from conspiracy to obstruct justice, to extortion, perjury, theft over $5,000, and assault causing bodily harm.

One of the staffers at the centre of an RCMP raid at the offices of two senior cabinet ministers has been fired and the other suspended as links to Paul Martin's new government are unveiled.
