White House Cannabis Rescheduling Draws Criticism

POT TV – The Hill discussed the proposed rescheduling of reefer in the United States.

President Joe Biden’s administration recently announced interest in changing cannabis’s place in the Controlled Substances Act, moving marijuana from Schedule 1 to Schedule 3.

The move would align cannabis no longer as a drug with ” … a high potential for abuse” and “… no currently accepted medical use”, but rather as an opioid, stimulant, or steroid, alongside Ketamine, Suboxone, or Marinol.

The suggestion was sharply criticized. The move to Schedule 3 would not guarantee the freedom and access the culture has demanded for decades. It would not address low-barrier medical access, or free cannabis from unnecessary continued criminal law enforcement.
