POT TV – Freddie Pritchard paid tribute to cannabis activist Herb Couch.
Freddie Pritchard paid tribute to cannabis activist and teacher Herb Couch via The One Man Smoke Show with a montage of photos. Freddie remembered Herb as a passionate, informed activist.
Herb died on March 25th, 2019, and was noted for his 50 year activist efforts.
Freddie was firm about Couch’s commitment over the years. “He was an awesome activist and stood up against the monopoly take over and c45 legalization.” Pritchard wrote, “He will be missed by many.”
Activist Jodie Emery spoke fondly of Herb. “Herb Couch was one of the earliest grassroots activists in Canada and was passionate in many areas of advocacy, including diligently gathering mainstream cannabis news coverage at a time when it was difficult to find. He was a gentle and friendly personality, representing the best of what a cannabis advocate can be. Many patients and pioneers will miss Herb and his contributions. I will remember him fondly.”
Author and historian Chris Bennett recalled Herb’s kind nature and powerful words. Bennett said Couch was, “A gentleman and an outstanding activist on a number of fronts, but particularly in regards to cannabis, his voice was well respected and heard far and wide from his Nelson home.”
Neil Magnuson, director of the Cannabis Substitution Project, praised Couch instantly and emphatically. “Herb was a wonderful guy. Any superlative you want to use: Brave. Compassionate. Well spoken. He was so many great things.”
Director of Sensible BC and Overgrow Canada, Dana Larsen, also praised Herb. “He was a devoted volunteer and organizer in his community. As I got to know him I found him to be an intelligent, compassionate man with a good heart and a commitment to making the world a better place. He will be missed.”
