The global war on drugs has failed - that’s according to a commission that includes former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan and former U.S. Secretary of State George Schultz. A report released by the Global Commission on Drug Policy on Thursday calls for the legalization of marijuana and other controlled substances.

From NORML: At this year's NORML Conference in Denver, guests were treated to an intimate question and answer session with marijuana reform pioneer and hero, Dr. Lester Grinspoon. The author of the seminal book "Marijuana Reconsidered" discussed personal details about his life and personal use, including this excerpt that details his meeting with the Beatles' John Lennon (and wife Yoko) as well as Lester's memories from his first real marijuana high (hint: it involves Sgt. Peppers and munchees).

CANNABIS CULTURE - Thousands parade through the streets of downtown Toronto for the 2011 Global Marijuana March. Princess of Pot Jodie Emery led the march, this year without her husband, activist Marc Emery. This will be the first year since 2006 that Marc was not in attendance, due to his arrest and imprisonment in the US for selling marijuana seeds in Canada.
