POT TV – Don Flatt shared an episode of Groovy TV with extra love for hempsters.
Culture video magazine, Groovy TV, aired in 1995, on Parkdale/Trinity Cable 10, a Toronto public access channel, and was way ahead of the mainstream on marijuana.
Music segments were recorded over a day at The Matador Club, with additional interviews added after, highlighting the independent culture of the area.
“Because it’s an after hours club. Because it wasn’t licensed. It gave us the ability to smoke dope.” Don told POT TV, laughing.
“[Cannabis] was a big part of the culture. It went hand in hand with the music. A little bit of tripping out. Even though it wasn’t legal, it was very much part of the scene. [We were] trying to raise awareness of the possibilities. To make political change. To show what was happening.”
“If you look in the cracks, you’ll find some groovy stuff.”
