Misleading Marijuana Headline Warns of Health Concern

POT TV – ABC7 reported on a recent study with a Reefer Madness angle.

The headline reads: “Smoking weed may be more harmful to lungs than cigarettes – study”.

Sounds like a shocking conclusion that “may” be a reason to be scared of weed smokers.

The truth, from the study, is this: “… concomitant cigarette smoking among the marijuana-smoking cohort limits our ability to draw strong conclusions.” Put simply, the ‘weed smoking cohorts’ in the study were also smoking cigarettes. The study compared cigarette smokers against other cigarette smokers.

The headline should read: “Study confirms commercial cigarette smoking may be harmful to the lungs of some people”.
