POT TV – Father Spyridon offered an opinion on Orthodox Christianity and cannabis.
Is cannabis a false sacrament because it amplifies the imagination, which opens up demonic possibilities?
Father Spyridon was clear in opinion. “The use of cannabis is a sin”.
As reference, Spyridon pointed to Sir John Cassian, and Galatians 5:20, which the Father claimed warns of ‘sorcery’. However the witchcraft warning in Galations the Father referenced may have confused “pharmakeus”, “a sorcerer”, with “pharmakeia”, “a healing or harmful medicine, a healing or poisonous herb”.
In the context of Galations 5:20, which warns of excess, only selfish use is sinful.
