CTV – Canadian Government Promises Pot Pardons

POT TV – The Government of Canada has drafted legislation to pardon “simple marijuana possession,’ reported CTV News.

Public Safety Minister, Ralph Goodale, held a press conference touting Bill C-93, “An Act to provide no-cost, expedited record suspensions for simple possession of cannabis.”

Longtime cannabis advocates, many with criminal records, are critical of the bill, as its scope is severely limited, and does not acknowledge the unnecessary and unjust harms of prohibition.

Jodie Emery, who had her former company’s location replaced by a government sanctioned store, was quick to point out the obvious hypocrisy. “If you can sell it for the government, you shouldn’t be deemed a criminal for having done it a few months ago.”
