POT TV – The Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America has a new PR and lobbying effort centered around cannabis.
Taking time out of their busy day of supporting America’s truck drivers, making cartoons about liquor wholesaling, and, of course, getting you blasted, The Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America has taken a shine to cannabis.
In what Fox’s Kennedy breathlessly repeated as a move for progress, the WSWA is focusing a lobbying effort on US Congress to allow states to pass laws legalizing the sale of cannabis. But there’s a catch.
The WSWA‘s lobbying effort is based on regulating cannabis like alcohol, which would include unnecessary restrictions and taxes, and continue to pair a safe, natural medicine with a poison.
Cynical stoners may remember years of lobbying by liquor groups (including the WSWA) to keep cannabis illegal, as a safer recreational alternative to alcohol would cut into booze sales.
It’s nice seeing a complete denunciation of prohibition on Fox News, but the layers to Reefer Madness 2.0 will need a critical busting before it can be rolled and puffed away.
