U.S. DRUG CZAR BRINGS ANTI-DRUG MESSAGE TO CANADA
John Walters plays the leading role in shaping and implementing U.S. drug policies. A member of President Bush’s cabinet, Walters directs the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), which was established in 1988.
The principal purpose of ONDCP is to establish policies, priorities and objectives for the U.S. drug control program. The goals of the program are to reduce illicit drug use, manufacturing, trafficking, drug-related crime and violence, and drug-related health consequences. To achieve these goals, the Director of ONDCP is charged with producing the National Drug Control Strategy, which directs the U.S. anti-drug efforts and establishes a program, a budget and guidelines for co-operation among Federal, State, and local entities.
Making a special appearance in Canada, John Walters will discuss the rationale for U.S. drug enforcement polices and stress the importance of Canada-U.S. co-operation. Join us when Canadian-educated John Walters brings his anti-drug message to British Columbia.
