POT TV – Footage from the Canadian Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology.
As the Canadian Senate reaches the deadline for a third vote on Bill C45/46, The Cannabis Act, committee hearings to explore the issue offer a painfully frustrating view into how laws reach royal assent.
Seemingly ignorant of their own report from 2002, which recommended a legal age for cannabis purchase at 16, Senators continue to use the incarceration of peaceful, non-violent citizens for political ends.
Thankfully the day finished with some level-headed opinions, most notably from John Conroy. When asked about the harms of cannabis on youth, Conroy replies simply, ‘what is the harm to youth from being arrested?’
