Mountie tragedy sparks marijuana-policy debate

The tragic shooting that left four Alberta Mounties dead has sparked a national debate on marijuana policies, with some calling for tougher grow-operation laws, while others say Canadians shouldn’t be hasty to link the tragedy to legislation.

When asked whether he believed the RCMP officers would be alive if marijuana was decriminalized, Conservative Leader Stephen Harper said it was not a rational conclusion to draw.
