More than 100 kilos of cannabis resin were found when police stopped a white Transit van in the north of the city.
Officers from the PSNI`s Drugs Squad carried out the raid at Fort William roundabout just before 11am.
One man was arrested during the operation, a police spokeswoman said.
She could not confirm whether any paramilitary involvement was suspected.
